R&D Trial Officer East Coast USA

The objective of this position is to support the R&D field testing needs for the assigned region. The trial officer will have the responsibility for the coordination and implementation of a multi-crop R&D field trial program (watermelon, tomato, radish, brassicas, onion…). For this position, Hazera Seeds is seeking an enthusiastic, result-oriented, and highly communicative individual. You will be a member of R&D Operations Team reporting to the R&D Global Trialing Manager. You will have close interaction with the local management, product development team, and commercial department of Hazera USA Inc. You will be based in Florida, USA.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a regional R&D field trial operational plan according to Breeding’s annual planning.
  • Actively manage all components of the R&D field trial plan, e.g. placement of trials, sowing, planting, etc.
  • Actively steer on field trial success and quality data, monitor and report on progress.
  • Carry out evaluation of trials and support the breeding in selections and evaluations.
  • Support Breeding in seed extraction activities.
  • Interact with local authorities to get phytosanitary certificates and export permits.
  • Interact with nurseries, growers, seed dealers and laboratories.
  • Ensure the objectivity, reliability, and accurate collection and processing of data.
  • Contribute to the further development of a global R&D trial network through engagement and collaborative interaction with colleagues in the different regions.

Profile:

  • MSc in agronomy, crop science or related field or BSc with relevant working experience.
  • Agronomical background/experience or field vegetable crop research.
  • Knowledge of plant breeding.
  • Proven experience in field trialing, including trial setup and field evaluations.
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently and a strong problem-solving capability.
  • Expertise in MS Office and data analysis.
  • Expertise with handheld field data collection devices and associated software.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically frequently and to work under variable environmental conditions associated with field trial work.
  • Proficient in English.
  • Driver license.
